Miriam Mueller

Client Controller

Miriam Mueller (she/they) is a Client Controller, providing Third Plateau clients with financial stewardship and operational support for nonprofit and community-based projects. Miriam believes in transparent, accountable financial operations and ensuring that clients have the best information possible for decision-making.

Miriam has thirty years of experience in accounting and operations as well as a background in fundraising and technology. Miriam has concentrated on nonprofits for 25 of those years and fiscal sponsorship for the last five. Miriam’s favorite professional work is capacity building and entrepreneurship, and she prefers mission-oriented accounting that’s about more than the bottom line. Miriam has an MA from Columbia University and a BA from the University of Texas, both in history. She is a Board member for NAMI Virginia and volunteers with arts organizations around Richmond.

Outside work, Miriam is usually involved in one of dozens of hobbies and projects and art/music events and is rarely still for very long, except when pursuing her annual reading goal, because there’s really nothing better than reading as many books as she can get her hands on.
