Mary (she/her) has held a variety of roles over the past two decades, including research and analysis, foundation creation, management and dissolution, program development and management, grants management, and business development.

Prior to joining Third Plateau, Mary was Marketing Manager for a large university with multiple campuses in New Zealand, where she led a rebrand to increase external reach. She also worked in advertising and sales for renowned firm Hal Riney & Partners, and enjoys applying that creative and strategic problem-solving in her work with philanthropists.

She studied design and creative writing—earning a dual B.A. in English and B.S. in Graphic Design from the University of Minnesota—before launching her career in marketing, advertising, and sales. She takes delight in navigating the joys and challenges of homeschooling her younger son—she considers being his teacher one of her most important and challenging roles. She is also an avid gardener but not an avid weeder.
