Lauren Rath

Senior Director

Lauren (she/her) ensures the highest quality of grants and system administration on behalf of philanthropists and foundations. She leads our grants team to develop efficient and effective procedures for clients that build trust, in alignment with regulatory requirements and community needs.

Lauren brings over a decade of grants management experience to Third Plateau. Prior to her role at Third Plateau, she served as Grants Manager for the Draper Richards Kaplan (DRK) Foundation providing overall management for grants and investments to early-stage organizations. Prior to DRK, she managed a portfolio of $268 million in grants to research organizations at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). Her formative grants and foundation experience was at the Tides and Simons Foundations, where she spent a collective ten years working with donor-advised funds and delving into the broader field of philanthropy.

Lauren earned a B.A. in Psychology and French at Rutgers University. An East Coast transplant to California since 2010, Lauren holds strong opinions about pizza and bagels and is pleasantly surprised by the current selections the Bay Area has on offer. When not seeking carbs, you can find her making up silly songs and/or on long stroller walks with her daughter, getting to know all the neighborhood cats, dogs, and chickens.
