Rob Griffin is a Senior Director in the Democracy practice at Third Plateau, where his research supports philanthropic funders, organizations, and field leaders working to strengthen American democracy.

Before Third Plateau, Rob was associate director of research at Democracy Fund, where he directed the Voter Study Group. He previously held director roles at the Public Religion Research Institute and the Center for American Progress. Over the course of his career he has helped design and manage surveys of roughly 700,000 Americans as well as develop resources to help the democracy ecosystem better understand itself and the country. He has contributed op-eds to the Washington Post, USA Today, and the New York Times, and appeared regularly on television, radio, and podcasts.

Rob holds a PhD in political science from George Washington University, with a focus on American politics. A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he now lives in Washington DC with his wife and their dog. Outside work, he’s a devoted movie watcher, an indiscriminate podcast listener, a regular at DC’s many wonderful restaurants, and is generally trying to leave the city so he can go hiking.
