Sarah Wilhelm

Associate Director

Sarah (she/her) utilizes a relationship-centered approach to partner with individuals, families, and foundations on their philanthropy to have impact and support community-led initiatives, through comprehensive research and analysis, communications, and strategic planning and advising. She leverages her background in program administration and project management to partner with next-gen philanthropists on pressing issues, such as human rights, climate justice, and democracy. Sarah is a 21/64-certified advisor.

Prior to joining Third Plateau, Sarah worked at several Bay Area mission-driven businesses where she partnered with California farmers to support regenerative agriculture and expand local food systems. With over twenty years of experience, she began her career in New York City as a designer in the fashion industry, before guiding individuals and groups in wellness as a yoga teacher and holistic health coach in New York and later in the Bay Area.

Sarah holds a B.F.A. from the University of Dayton and an A.A.S. from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She cares deeply about centering equity and belonging in her work, and creating resilient systems to support the health of our communities, democracy, and the environment. On weekends, you’ll likely find her with her husband and friends enjoying their favorite East Bay restaurants or exploring new ones. As an advocate for personal and community wellness, she has maintained a regular yoga practice for over twenty years and enjoys crafting home-cooked meals from what she grows in her garden.
